I am the intermediate/junior high literacy coach here at Newbury Local Schools. I have been a part of the Newbury family since 2006, teaching both reading and math courses in grades 3-8.
In 2016, Newbury Elementary and Junior High was presented with a rare opportunity to send two teachers to The Ohio State University to be trained as coaches in the Literacy Collaborative framework. This opportunity was provided through our affiliation with the Mahoning County Educational Service Center and a Straight-A grant.
Since then, I have been coaching reading teachers in grades 3-8 to grow our collective expertise in literacy learning. I also work with students implementing the components of the Literacy Collaborative framework which focuses on meeting students were they are as readers, writers, and word solvers, and moving them forward.
The staff, students, and community here at Newbury have afforded me opportunities in my career beyond what I could imagine, and I am incredibly proud to be a Black Knight.
