In 2016-17, Mr. Chaffee will be entering his second year as Principal of Newbury Jr./Sr. High School. Previously he was employed by the Windham Schools, where he enjoyed a 33-year career; 28 years as an English Teacher before becoming the Junior/Senior Principal in 2010. He is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a BA and MA in English. He also coached volleyball at Windham and is a member of the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame. As a teacher, he was awarded the Ashland Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence and is a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. During his time as an administrator at Windham, he was involved in transforming the school to a 21st Century Technology School, including a one-to- one initiative providing computers for each student, and making significant growth in the Ohio Improvement Program. He and his wife Kathy live in Lordstown, where he served as Mayor from 2004-2011. Their son Scott is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he is employed in a Medical Research Lab. Their daughter Keeley is a graduate of West Virginia University and is in her third year in the Doctoral Program of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh. The Chaffees are all avid Cleveland Sports fans and have 2 dogs and 4 cats that are named after sports figures. . Mr. Chaffee is extremely grateful to be a part of the Newbury Family.
