Newbury Elementary: Fourth Grade

Fourth Grade Assignment Books

A Review of Our Expectations

We would like to remind you about our expectations for your child’s assignment book.  We began using the assignment book at the beginning of the year and the expectations are the same for all three classes.

Students are to record all of their assignments each day.  They have at least two opportunities to do this; at the end of the class and at the end of the day when we review all assignments in preparation to go home.  We also remind the students what materials they should have.  Once home, there is a list for the students and you to follow to ensure that homework is completed each night.  Please help your student by reminding them to put their homework in the folder to be returned to school the next day.

During the school day, as we go over or collect assignments, we will mark the assignment book ”NC” if an assignment is not finished, left at home, or left in the homeroom classroom.  Students have the opportunity to get a forgotten assignment to us later in the day or the next day.

At the end of each week, parents should sign the assignment book for that week noting their “NC’s”, and we will check the books on Monday.  At the end of the grading period, we have a reward activity for students who have completed their assignments for that grading period.  Students who have not completed homework will go to a study hall.

We hope that the assignment book will help your child help himself/herself, and help you, as parents, understand what is happening at school.
