Newbury Jr/Sr High School Open House

The Newbury Junior-Senior High School Open House will take place this Thursday, September 9 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Open House is a good time for parents and teachers to meet, and we will use a similar format as in the past. I have scheduled a slightly earlier start time so we have an opportunity to discuss additions to our programming that offer new opportunities for our children. These are Parent Assist Module, NovaNet, and Credit Flexibility. I will provide handouts for each. Introductions of staff and faculty will take place at 7:00. Students from Student Council and/or National Honor Society will be available to distribute schedules to you prior to and after the introductory remarks.

During the night's brief classes, parents will hear about class expectations, curriculum, homework, and other topics related to the academic year. Teachers will also discuss their grading systems. Teachers will have neither the time nor enough knowledge of student strengths and weaknesses to do parent conferences this evening. These are scheduled for November 17 and 18.

Please stop by the tables set up in the front and gym lobbies. There will be sign-up sheets for Parent Advisory Group and volunteers needed throughout the year.

When your child has a study hall scheduled, you may want to sample the refreshments served in the library courtesy of the National Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society. In addition, I will be in the library to talk with you if you wish to stop by.
