It's Entertainment!

March 03, 2010

March 3, 2010, the Intermediate students of Newbury Elementary performed for their parents, friends and community. The students enjoyed singing various songs from Broadway shows and movies. Some elementary band students performed solos and ensembles during the performance. The show started with three talented piano students performing various piano solos. Then the Elementary Chorus joined in the show by singing "Another Op'nin', Another Show". The Boys, from the chorus, sang "One", and the girls ended the chorus sections be performing a medley of songs from "The Sound of Music".

A Low Brass Ensemble performed the entry music for the fourth grade students. The fourth grade students sang songs from "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Music Man." During "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "The Wells Fargo Wagon", our fourth grade students got some experience singing in ensembles.

Jessica Perez, flute, and Hannah Lewandoski, alto saxophone, performed band solos while the rest of the fifth graders entered the stage. The fifth grade students performed "Under the Sea", "Somewhere Out There" and "Freedom".

Anna Koch performed a snare drum solo and a sixth grade band ensemble delivered the sixth grade students to the stage for their performance. "I Whistle A Happy Tune" helps all of the performers to relax and deal with the stage jitters they were experiencing. Emily Wilson and Abigail Brown performer a duet on "Together, Wherever We Go." Perry Como's hit, "Catch A Falling Star" was sung. Maria Lyttle sang "Tomorrow, from Annie. The sixth grade portion of the concert ended with the class performing Happiness from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

The performance ended with the finale of all the students singing a salute to George Michael Cohan and to MGM. It was fun to see and hear the entire stage area of the auditorium filled with musical students. Thank you to Mrs. Henry for accompanying. Thank you for working so hard to all of our great performers. Thank you to our parents and friends for being a wonderful audience.
