Newbury Elementary: Sixth Grade

D.A.R.E. Graduation, 2010

Newbury Elementary sixth grade celebrated their D.A.R.E. graduation January 6, 2010 .  Deputy Jeff Powers offered welcoming remarks and introductions. Lt. Scott Niehus gave a short speech. Deputy Mike Matsik brought Deputy Marko, his dog partner.  Deputy Matsik explained the life of a working police dog to the students.  James Craven, Courtney Kirby, Maria Lyttle, Cary Morin, Angela Ackerman, Jarred Dassatti, Keegan Lax, and Emily Wilson read their essays to the rest of the students and their parents.  Certificates were conferred by the Deputies, Mrs. Ewing and Mrs. Fletcher, sixth grade teachers, and Mrs. Gingerich.  After a slide presentation of the D.A.R.E. activities and lessons, the assembled group enjoyed a reception in the lobby provided by the sixth grade room parents and bakers.  Thank you to Mrs. Dassatti for organizing the reception.
