Newbury Student Performs With Geauga Lyric Theater Guild
Ms. Proctor
December 13, 2009
Maria Lyttle is a new sixth student at Newbury Elementary but she has been involved in theater productions since she started school. Maria began her stage experience with Fairmount Fine Arts Center. While studying drama at Fairmount Center, Maria performed in many shows such as: The Wizard of Oz, Alice In Wonderland, Pippi Longstocking, Pinocchio, The Emperor's New Clothes, Babes in Toyland and The Lion Who Wouldn't Roar.
This year she has moved on to doing productions in Chardon with the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild. This weekend she will be finishing up performing with the cast of A Christmas Carol. For "Carol" Maria was involved in the Victorian Choir, the Scene Change Choir and some Ensembles.
While with the Guild, Maria has added Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beauty is a Beast, Fiddler On the Roof and, of course, A Christmas Carol to her resume.Maria enjoys drama and being with her friends. She does not see it as giving up her free time, but rather as a new adventure. One of the many lessons that she has learned through these experiences is that it is not always about you but about the show. Maria is sad when a show is over but is always looking forward to the next one.
While finishing up the shows for A Christmas Carol, rehearsals have already begun for her next opportunity. Maria will be performing in Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat, which will be on stage in Chardon the last two weekends in January. Newbury Schools has stars. If you can try to catch this one at a performance of A Christmas Carol this weekend or for "Joseph" at the end of January.
