Elementary Art Classroom Receives Award
by Mrs. Church
Elementary art teacher Mrs. Caryl Church has successfully applied for the Picturing America Award, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association. This award provides winning schools and libraries with forty reproductions of American art and a teacher resource book. The goal of the initiative is for public school students and library patrons to examine American heritage through appreciation, exploration, and engagement with art. The award will be received in September, 2008. Mrs. Church is looking forward to utilizing the award in her kindergarten through sixth grade art classes in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Education’s academic standards for visual art.
