Curious Minds at the Museum of Natural History
Newbury Second Graders learn about fossils and planets
Newbury second graders had
the pleasure of visiting the Cleveland Natural History Museum.
The first thing they saw was a huge telescope used to observe
the moon and planets. Next, they watched as space came down
to the Earth in the Nathan and Fannye Shafran Planetarium. We
saw what is going on in the night sky and the latest in space
research and exploration.
In the Reinberger Hall of Earth and Planetary Exploration we saw fearsome Devonian fishes and came face to face with dinosaurs. We were dazzled by beautiful gems and jewels in Wade Gallery.
In the Ralph Perkins Wildlife Center we saw the home of many Ohio animals and plants. There were otters, raccoons, bobcats, Bald Eagle, and many more.
The Sears Hall of Human Ecology showed us native cultures of the world. We met Lucy, one of humanity's earliest ancestors.
Many of the second graders said this was the best field trip they were ever on!!
