Newbury Elementary: Activities

Story image 1

Wet Lab Days at Newbury

by Mrs. Gingerich

The Wet Lab Days at Newbury Elementary May 8, 2008, were literally wet and forced students and leaders inside to learn about "Animal Senses."  Mrs. Judy Barnhart, coordinator of the PTO sponsored event, organized several stations among which the students rotated during their visit.

The Geauga Park district taught about senses of smell, the Geauga Soil and Water representative explained and showed Critters and the PTO had a vision and hearing game connected with animals' senses.  Hands on activities were involved at each station and much learning occurred amid a good time.

Luckily, May 9th for the 4th and 5th graders, the weather changed and they were able to learn these lessons in our wetland area behind the high school.

Thank you to all the parent volunteers and to the Park  and the Soil and Water representatives for contributing time and effort to this annual event.
