Kindergarten Screening at Newbury Elementary

Thirty-seven Newbury boys and girls arrived at Kindergarten screening full of energy, inquiry, and expectations. They were greeted by staff and volunteers who did eye exams, gross motor skill games, visual discrimination tasks, and other tests to determine the readiness of the students for entering school in the fall. PTO provided goody bags for the participants and bus rides were offered to parents and children.
Thank you to these adults who helped with this venture: Mrs. Gregan, Mr. Sterlekar, Mrs. Cavanagh, Ms. Parker, Mrs. A. Miller, Miss Munn, and Mrs. Gingerich, Elementary staff members, Ms. Hammer, Ms. Proegler, and Ms. Underwood from the Geauga County ESC, and Mrs. Lewandoski, Mrs. M. Stefancin and Mrs. S. Stefancin from the community.
If you have a student who will be 5 by August 1, 2008 in the Newbury school district and he or she didn't come to screening, please call the Elementary office at 564-2282 and talk to Mrs. Markiewicz or Mrs. Gingerich for more information.
