NEWBURY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION REPORT – None
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Persons who wish to appear before the Board and have not requested placement on the agenda seven (7) days in advance may speak to the Board prior to the items for action portion of the meeting. This public participation segment of the Board meeting shall be controlled by the presiding officer. Any discussion at this portion of the Board meeting cannot and shall not receive any Board action. However, before the Board will hear a complaint or criticism about school personnel, the complaint must be submitted to the Treasurer, in writing, at least seven (7) days in advance of the meeting. The employee will receive a copy of the complaint, and the process prescribed in Board Policy #9130, Public Complaints and Grievances, will be followed.

Adopt the proposed tax budget for the period, July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009, and approve its submission to the Geauga County Budget Commission. (Enclosures)

08-06 TITLE IX/EMPLOYMENT/RESIGNATION/VOLUNTEERS
Moved by Mr. Douglas, second by Mr. Blair, to approve the following:
Appoint Mrs. Janis Gingerich as Title IX and Equal Opportunity Employment Compliance Hearing Officer.
Approve the employment of Mrs. Jeanette Weiss of Newbury, OH, and grant her a contract for the remainder of the 2007-08 school year as Proctor (F) for 2.5 hours/day at $9.63/hr. (Enclosure)
Accept the resignation of Mr. David Sterlekar as Elementary Guidance Counselor for purposes of retirement effective at the end of the 2007-08 school year. (Enclosure)
Approve the appointment of the following volunteer coaches for the 2007-08 school year.

Accept the donation of a 5’ server rack valued at $500 from the Huntsburg Baptist Church. (Enclosure)
Accept a donation of $400 from Mr. Fred Welty of Newbury to be used
for purchase of materials and equipment used for the teaching of physics.
