PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Persons who wish to appear before the Board and have not requested placement on the agenda seven (7) days in advance may speak to the Board concerning items for action prior to the New Business portion of the meeting. This public participation segment of the Board meeting shall be controlled by the presiding officer. Any discussion at this portion of the Board meeting cannot and shall not receive any Board action. However, before the Board will hear a complaint or criticism about school personnel, the complaint must be submitted to the Treasurer, in writing, at least seven (7) days in advance of the meeting. Authorize the employment of student summer custodial help at a rate of $7.00 per hour and authorize up to three students to work up to eight hours per day and forty hours per week on a sliding scale not to exceed a total expenditure to the Board of Education of $8,000.

08-65 SUMMER REMEDIATION PROGRAM/NJRB MINUTES

Approve a four-week summer remediation program from July 7 to
August 1, 2008, in reading and mathematics. for students in grades
1-6 at a tuition cost of $80 for each class taken and approve the posting
of up to four instructors at tutorial rate as per the terms and conditions
of the Negotiated Agreement. Reading will be scheduled from 8:00 to
9:50 AM and Mathematics from 10:05 AM to 11:55 AM.

Schools Council 2008-2009 Bus Purchasing Program. (Enclosures)
Whereas the Newbury Local Schools Board of Education wishes to
advertise and receive bids for the purchase of 1 - 65 passenger
unitized conventional school bus chassis and body. The 2008-09
Cooperative School Bus Purchasing Program fee is $650.00
Therefore, be it resolved the Newbury Local Schools Board of
Education wishes to participate and authorizes the Ohio Schools Council
to advertise and receive bids on behalf of said Board as per the
specifications submitted for the cooperative purchase of 1 - 65
passenger unitized conventional school bus chassis and body. This
Board agrees to pay $650.00 to Ohio Schools Council for school
district membership as a service fee for this purpose.
