IV. NEW BUSINESS

A. Recommend the Board:

1. Approve dates, times and locations of regular meetings, work sessions

and other Board functions as presented. (Enclosure)

2. Establish a Service Fund, as provided by O.R.C. 3315.15, in the amount

of $5,000 to pay expenses actually incurred in the performance of their

duties by Board of Education members or their official representatives.

3. Authorize the Board President and Treasurer to borrow money if needed.

4. Authorize the Treasurer to secure advances from the County Auditor

when funds are available and payable to the school district.

5. Authorize the Treasurer to pay bills within the limits of the appropriation

resolution as bills are received and when merchandise has been received

in good condition or services performed in an acceptable manner.

6. Authorize the Treasurer to invest interim funds at the most productive

interest rate when interim funds are available.

7. Authorize the Treasurer to amend the certificate of estimated resources

with the County Auditor with such amendment to be presented for

approval by the Board at the next regular or special meeting.

8. Authorize the Treasurer to make appropriation transfers within funds

and make temporary transfers to deficit funds as needed for 2012.

9. Authorize the Treasurer to liquidate obsolete, broken or otherwise

unused school district equipment valued at less than $5,000 per item.

10. Authorize the Superintendent to employ such temporary personnel as

needed for emergency situations and then submit their names for

approval at the next regular meeting.

11. Authorize the Superintendent to serve as purchasing agent for the

school district.

12. Authorize the Superintendent to act as agent of the Board in barring the

attendance of or removing any person whose conduct may constitute a

disruption at a school event.

13. Authorize the Superintendent to apply for all federal and state grants

as they become available.

14. Accept substitute teachers approved by the Geauga County

Educational Service Center.

15. Approve the employment of tutors for home instruction, at the current

hourly rate, who are either certificated teachers of the Newbury Local

School District or are certificated teachers on the substitute list of the

Geauga County Educational Service Center.

16. Approve the attendance and the expenditure of funds for the

Superintendent, certificated personnel, school support personnel (at the

Superintendent’s approval), and the Treasurer and Treasurer’s staff (at

the Treasurer’s approval) at in-service meetings, conferences, clinics

and workshops within the State of Ohio during 2012.

17. Approve the attendance of all Board of Education members at official

meetings within the State of Ohio during 2012.

18. Designate the News-Herald and the Geauga County Maple Leaf as the

official newspapers for our school district.

19. Appoint Board of Education members to the following positions:

OSBA Capital Conference Delegate

OSBA Capital Conference Alternate

OSBA Legislative Liaison

OSBA Student Achievement Liaison

20. Approve Compensation for Board of Education members at the

maximum amount authorized by law.
